Home insurance has become increasingly complex. It has become more and more common over the years for people not to be able to get flood insurance. I was surprised a couple of years ago to find I don't have flood insurance. But I don't need flood insurance; I live on a little mountain not near a body of water. But many, many others do. And now it looks like everyone, everywhere needs fire insurance, but no one will be able to get it.
To my mind, there is something not-at-all new about this. Think about when Nassar built the Aswan Dam, over 50 villages were destroyed, including much ancient Nubian culture. What with war's destruction of natural resources and man-made famine, we humans have been creating climate-related refugees forever.
My favorite quote, "Although the incoming Trump administration will almost certainly exacerbate our effect on the natural world, the natural world is more than capable of humbling even the most strident of MAGA believers."
Hey Sree, read and loved your article on Climate Refugees in America. Been talking to few climate and global warming experts, a few who were part of the Clinton and Obama admin and some who are professors in Yale and Fordham and they are very very disturbed about the new Trump Policy, specially us leaving the Paris Accord. I guess large forest fire and massive flooding is the norm now. Which is a frightening thought to think. Maybe once Mara Laga gets swept off into the sea, Trump will see the light of the day.
