Sree and Zach,

I know Sree personally, so I'll start by saying how sorry I am you that have lost your clearly extraordinary mother. Of course, even if she'd been an absolutely ordinary mother, she would have been extraordinary to you and no one can ever replace her. I send you my love and deepest condolences.

Zach, the loss of your mother at such a young age is unfathomable to me, both as someone who has a mother and as someone who is a mother. Thank you for sharing your story. It cannot have been easy.

Both of you are helping your readers to cope with their own losses, and for that we are all grateful.

Thank you Zach and Sree for sharing your feelings so well.

I have a friend whose father was not a good person; he died when she was in her 20s, and she doesn't feel bad that he died or miss him.

So in a way those of us who loved and lost parents to whom we have strong positive emotions (among the negative ones we're bound to have as well) are blessed. The other day my youngest grandson did something especially endearing, and watching the video, I said out loud, "mom, you should see this."
