Unlike many whom I respect, I still have my X account. I haven't posted in months and months. But I do read it every day because, like you, I want to know what's on people's minds and what the worst of the worst are saying. It's pretty bad. Actually, it's outright awful. But there still is news in there. Will I ever delete my account? First I have to decide what the deleting would entail. Would I, for instance, copy everything over to BlueSky, which is possible. Probably not because while I wrote some great tweets, I also participated in Twitter Chats, and I'm sure those tweets are not worthy of preservation, And then there's the question of how to delete, all-at-once via one of the programs available, or tweet-by-tweet-by-zeet. Sounds painful. I will probably spend another 6 months dithering.
I doubt there will ever be anything again like the Twitter you taught me to use. I mourn it. But that does not mean I should be there. Because it's X. It is not Twitter.
I bailed on Faux Snews years ago because I couldn’t stand by while being so obviously lied to. I wasn’t a fan of the Twitter format before Elon Musk made it it the hate filled train wreck it is today. Instead, I get my news from the Brian Tyler Cohen’s and Meidas Touch media pundits, and just signed up for BlueSky and Substack.
Plus, there is one more, fundamental reason to quit Twitter for Bluesky/Substack that people seem to miss. (beyond Twitter/X political sympathies, and censorship, and propaganda). In Substack/Bluesky you own your audience, while in Twitter you don't. Twitter owns them. The moment you quit, you lose all your contacts. I just wrote about it: https://4two.substack.com/p/how-to-own-your-audience
ps. Haha, I'd love to steal your front page image with Elon and daemons ... I wonder though whom I should quote as copyright... I guess Elon himself??
